Nobody gets it…Nobody gets me!

Some children love school. Unfortunately, some are unable to attend regularly or even at all. Here PW, aged 10, opens up on the effect school has on him and why gaming is his safe place.

“When I think about school, it makes me feel sick, annoyed, stressed out, nervous, angry, worried and lonely.

My body feels like an evil creature is taking over my body, climbed on my back taking over, squeezing my ribs so I can’t breathe.

The world feels scary. I feel like I have to fight for my life. I panic more, my chest feels tighter. I can’t breathe. It’s like I need to fight, fight hard to escape this place.

My world is a lonely place. I have no real friends. They are non-existent. My friends are my toys – my plushes and teddies, where we can escape to their worlds.

I love my PS5 as there, I can avoid the real world where it scares me… I’m in a world where I’m free to be me. I don’t feel socially awkward as I do in the real world, where I’m lonely and get things wrong.

NOBODY GETS IT… NOBODY GETS ME!”
